Original Course
A series of inspiring sessions which illuminate all aspects of creative writing. Through discussion, exercises, and example, this course will enable you to develop insight into your own creative process and give you confidence to achieve your writing goals.
Each week will focus on a different aspect of fiction writing, including: how to start writing and overcoming the 'blank page' syndrome, finding a voice, developing plots and sub-plots, writing up the big scenes, and finding a satisfying ending. We will look at constructing characters, exploring dialogue, and evoking theme and mood through descriptive writing. Participants will be encouraged to produce work each week and will receive constructive feedback.
The Monday afternoon and Saturday courses take place in the attractive surroundings of the Groucho Club, London's well-known literary venue, at 45 Dean Street, Soho. The Tuesday evening course will take place at the New Cavendish Club, 44 Great Cumberland Place, London W1, near Marble Arch tube.
Next term's courses are listed below. We have courses of six three-hour sessions on Saturdays and Mondays and one course of eight two-hour sessions on Tuesday evenings. There is now the option to take our Original Course over a three-day weekend.

Please note that no course sessions will be held during the Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend (2-5 June).
There will be a maximum of 16 people on Original Courses, and the total cost is £295 including VAT. Payment for the full amount must be received to ensure you have a place on the course.
Cancellation Policy: If you wish to cancel, we will refund the fee less £75 up to 21 days before the course begins. After this we regret we cannot offer refunds. This does not affect your statutory rights; however, all cancellation rights end when you begin the course.
Occasionally a substitute teacher may be employed. We have never had to cancel a class, but in the unlikely event of this happening, a suitable alternative date will be arranged or a refund for that session given.
