Consultations – £100
An hour to talk about whatever is useful to you, on Zoom or phone.
If you book multiple sessions we can potentially do them in person in London.
Common topics:
– writing, habits & life
– craft and technical writing issues
– writer’s block & psychological barriers
– general direction of your writing
– submitting to agents and publishers
If you want a more general coaching session or discussion that’s fine. Other specialist subjects of mine include:
– forming and sustaining good habits
– running & hiking
– how to model your personal finances**
– veganism
– philosophy
You can have as many of these sessions as you like, as a one-off or on a regular basis.

Feedback Session – £100
You submit around 1,000 words of your work.
A week or so later we have either:
– a 30-minute Zoom or phone call to discuss it; or
– or a few hundred words of written feedback
You can have as many of these sessions as you like, as a one-off or on a regular basis.

Writing Exercises with Feedback – £100
I send you three writing exercises.
You complete them and send them to me, totalling up to 1,000 words.
We then have either:
– 30 minutes verbal feedback on phone or Zoom; or
– a few hundred words of written feedback
You can have as many of these sessions as you like, as a one-off or on a regular basis.

Submission Package Review – £250
I will review your query letter, one page synopsis and first 3 chapters (or up to 30 double-spaced pages) and return a 6-8 page report on how to get it into the best possible shape to send to an agent or editor.

Manuscript Appraisal – £750
I read your manuscript up to 90,000 words in length and provide you with a report of 2,000 to 3,000 words.
The report is designed to help you to develop, structure and edit your work.
The approach is constructive, aimed at pointing out strengths and weaknesses in aspects of your work including style, plot, narrative structure, pacing, point of view, characterisation and dialogue.
You have the option of booking an additional 1-hour feedback session (£75) to discuss the feedback 2-4 weeks later. This takes place on Zoom or phone.

Six-Month Mentoring – £1,750
This is a package of detailed support to help you make the best possible progress towards completing and submitting a novel.
This consists of advice and feedback on six 5,000 word submissions of your own work in six monthly 90-minute feedback sessions.
